Database of Waiting Children

We have wonderful children in Wisconsin waiting for loving families. We have a great deal of information for you. You will be introduced to the wonderful children of Wisconsin. The write-ups you see will be brief introductions to these children. We have additional information on the children. Agencies responsible for these children will have substantially more information. Please be aware that these write-ups do not represent complete documentation on every child's need.

All children deserve to have a family in a timely manner. Social workers for the children want to place them with families as soon as possible. They need to see a completed adoption study to determine whether a family is a good match for the child. It is possible, then, that the children you see on the Internet may have an adoptive family before you are able to complete your study, but new children are listed on the Internet continually.

Please keep checking for new listings! We update children on a daily basis.

If you do not have a completed adoption study and are from Wisconsin, contact Adoption Resources of Wisconsin for information on licensed agencies that do adoption studies for special needs adoption. If you are from another state, please contact your state Department of Social Services. If you are unable to find an agency, please contact us and we will help you find the resources in your state.

To get additional information about a child or children listed on this site, you must have a current homestudy (adoption study). If you have a current homestudy and would like to receive more information about a child click here for our Child Inquiry Form. Please be aware that in order to talk directly to a child’s worker, you need to have a completed adoption study.

SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR WISCONSIN FAMILIES

If you do not have an adoption study, call or e-mail our office to receive a list of adoption agencies that do adoption studies or visit our section Wisconsin Adoption Agencies, and check out the section – Learn About Special Needs Adoption – and read our Guide to Special Needs Adoption (English) or La Guía in Spanish.

SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES
FROM STATES OTHER THAN WISCONSIN

Thank you for expressing interest in adoption through the State of Wisconsin. We appreciate your interest in helping children find permanent homes.

We would like to inform all interested families who do not live in Wisconsin, that a majority of the waiting children are placed within the state. Children often need to maintain contact with siblings and other relatives. For that reason, Wisconsin families will most often be considered before out-of-state families. This is not to discourage families from expressing interest, but to make you aware of these considerations.

We use a variety of methods to make the public aware of Wisconsin’s waiting children and their need for permanence. We use television, newspapers, newsletters, a photolisting magazine called Adopt!, and of course the Internet.

You may inquire about the children you see listed in this section. You need to have a completed adoption study that is current (less than a year old) before you inquire. If you do not have an adoption study, we can help you find your state adoption unit.

We appreciate your desire to learn more about the waiting children in Wisconsin. If you have any other questions, please contact us at info@wiadopt.org or call us at 414-475-1246.

We would also encourage you to check out the AdoptUSKids website to learn about adoption in other states. Go to www.adoptuskids.org.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHILDREN'S SECTION

You will also see many numbers with an LR in front of the number. This indicates that the child’s case is in legal transition. A plan of adoption has been made, but there has not yet been a termination of parental rights. Please read more about this in our section How do children get listed on www.wiadopt? in How To Adopt in Wisconsin. We encourage you to call on all children you are interested in – both those already legally free and ready for placement, as well as those children who still are waiting for the termination of parental rights.
